Oscar makes reference to his old boss Michael Scott from "the Office," using the quote "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take," by Wayne Gretzky/Michael Scott.

The flashback to the award ceremony in 1971 features a shot of a man laughing who is actually Patrick Moore the British Astronomer who presented 'The Sky at Night'.

Mid-credits scene: Esmeralda makes a toast at a stranger's wedding.

S01E09 - Matching Ponchos (Notes and Trivia)

The side of the Softees "Ice Cream" truck reads "By touching a cone I waive all legal claims or rights."

Mid-credits scene: Esmeralda kisses Barry in an attempt to remove his appearance in her dreams.

S01E08 - Church and State (Notes and Trivia)

Mid-credits scene: Esmeralda critiques the new Softees "Kid Mitts" commercial.

S01E07 - I Love You (Notes and Trivia)

The game the office workmates are playing in the conference room is "Don't Wake Daddy", a board game where players try to sneak from their beds to a refrigerator to get a midnight snack without waking the sleeping Daddy figure.

Mid-credits scene: There is no mid-credits scene in this episode. This is the only episode in season one without a mid-credits scene.

Mid-credits scene: Detrick meets up with Gloria Tornado in the bar.

S01E04 - TTT vs the Blogger (Notes and Trivia)

Mid-credits scene: Travis is seen flying his drone on the roof of the Truth Teller Building, and spotting Detrick and Nicole kissing at a local sports bar.

S01E03 - Buddy and the Dude (Notes and Trivia)

Jay Pharoah plays the voice of Martin Lawrence on Adelola's phone.

Mid-credits scene: Marv absent-mindedly asks Ann not to fire Ned.

S01E02 - The Five W's (Notes and Trivia)

Beaming with pride that his soduko puzzle was published, Oscar is heard on the phone speaking to "Stanley", saying "Maybe too easy for you, Stanley!" The assumption is he was checking in with his former Dunder Mifflin workmate Stanley Hudson, who was a fan of soduko puzzles.

Mid-credits scene: Adelola and Adam get arrested after scaring children by acting like dogs in the local park.

S01E01 - Pilot (Notes and Trivia)

As Ned and Mare have their first conversation, a "Froggy 101" bumper sticker can be seen on a cabinet in the background. The same sticker was also displayed in the Dunder Mifflin office near Dwight's desk.

Michael's joke farewell gift to Oscar, a handmade puppet made of burlap and stuffing with an odd face, from The Office is displayed on and around Oscar's desk.

The opening credits show a number of ways that newspapers are being used. Ironically, none of them show anybody actually reading a paper.

Just like in "The Office", many actors in "The Paper" are also part of the show's writing team, such as Mo Welch (Kimberly), Gbemisola Ikumelo (Adelola), Alex Edelman (Adam), and Eric Rahill (Travis).

A "Dunder Mifflin" cardboard box appears in front of Oscar's desk.

Mid-credits scene: Oscar tells the camera crew he will not allow them to film him.
